Other than Dragon Ball, Akira Toriyama also worked on other projects and his other creations, one of them being "Cashman - Saving Soldier" which is a three-part manga turned OVA. I headcanon that Jiren happens to have a VHS for that OVA and watches it on a daily basis. Though, that doesn't make sense regarding the first panel, but whatever.
