I first start off by upscaling the image using upscayl, or bigjp since upscayl is only for computers. I also use @/sekai_card on twitter if im too lazy.
After upscaling them to about 4x more, I insert the images into photoshop (Im using photoshop 2024) and click on the pen tool. After that I just start putting the pen around the character.
After ive outlined what I wanted, I click on 'mask' at the top which removes the parts outside of the selection. After, I click on 'Paths' and select 'Load path as a selection' and using the contextual task bar select 'Deselect'.
After that I might fix some outlines and then export it!
After I've got my renders, I open firealpaca (or editing app) and choose a 1096x1600 for smaller cards and 1200x1528 for bigger cards canvas, I insert the renders and place them at the center of the canvas, afterwards, I delete the sides using a soft brush and thats basically it,,, Sorry if the explanation was messy idk how to explain stuff well
@starcorpse no no it;s fine! Thanks for the explanation, I was just curious because you don't really see the 3rd anniversary cards transparent so i've always wondered how.
