This was a hoax object, a man sewn a monkey corpse and a fish body together to give it the look of a mermaid, it was often shown in sideshows,it was supposedly caught in the fiji islands in the pacific. Barnum exhibited it on his museum, but the original got lost in one of the many fires that destroyed part of his collections. A lot of replicas do exist
